The type DS- distillation fume hood is provided with a large face opening for setting up tall apparatus, distillation columns, etc., or it can be used as a bench type hood by simply adding a removable or fixed counter height work surface. Distillation hoods are available in lengths from 3’-0" to 100’-0" and may be customized to each user’s specific needs.

The DS- distillation fume hood is furnished with the following features:

• The hood exterior is fabricated of either a special chemical resistant plastic (DS1-) or of 18 gauge, zinc-coated and bondarized steel with a chemical resistant enamel (DS2-) to match the supporting table frame.
• The interior of the hood is made of 1/4" thick, special heat, solvent and reagent resistant composition stone that is treated with a chemical resistant, clear vinyl for added protection. Additional hood liners are available upon request, including a white modified resin/fiberglass, a fiberglass reinforced polyester (FRP), white polypropylene and stainless steel.
• The fume hood baffles have three adjustable air flow dampers at the top, center and bottom for adjustment to light or heavy gases.
• A vapor-proof incandescent light fixture is furnished for added visibility. (Two light fixtures are furnished in hoods 7’-0" and longer.)
• Two vertically rising front sashes are furnished and glazed with 1/4" thick, laminated safety glass. The window sashes are counter balanced with lead weights for fingertip movement. (Optional sash stops are available to restrict the face opening during hood operation. The stops may be released for set-up purposes.)
• A hood floor or counter top shall be furnished in 1" thick flat or 1-1/4" thick dished black epoxy resin. (Other materials are also available.)
• A heavy duty table base (made of enameled steel in a heavy duty construction) is furnished to support the distillation hood.
• If the hood is furnished with a blower, the blower can be enclosed within the hood ceiling or shipped separately. The blower housing and wheel are coated with a highly chemical resistant epoxy coating for extra protection against corrosion.
